Ngozi :: Leather
The Ngozi collection was dreamt up from the desire to revive old, time-honoured Maasai beading techniques and bring new life to Maasai artefacts. Creating striking art pieces in the signature style of the Tanzania Maasai tribe with the use of white beads, a piece that truly becomes more special with age, making them a talking point for years to come.
The canvas of the pieces is locally-sourced leather from a group of Maasai women in Tanzania who have set up their own village tannery. This collection therefore creates employment for two groups of Maasai women - our beaders, and these leather producers.
Intricately embroidered glass beads on locally sourced leather. Attached to a wooden stick, traditionally used to make Maasai walking stick.
